How to Install WordPress on your Windows Platform using XAMPP Localhost

Now Get Start XAMPP Installation in windows Platform.

Download XAMPP for windows platform go to www.apachefriends.org/download.html . Now you can see XAMPP Server comes with different variety.

Now you can click on XAMPP FOR Windows 5.5.37/ PHP 5.5.37 version.

Now after download complete. run the installer to get start with the Xampp Server setup.

Select Components

In the XAMPP Server component wizard, by default all the component are selected. You can uncheck the components that you don’t plan to use.

Let’s we quickly guide these XAMPP Server Components.

Apache This Is the HTTP web server, and essential to run the website. (Example Front End visualization)

MySQL– This component using for maintain back-end database server.

FileZilla FTP server– This Component is used for setting up an FTP server means(file transfer Protocol).

Mercury Mail Server This component is used for setting up a mail transport system.

Tomcat It is an application server, which runs Java based web applications.

PHP It is a server side scripting language used for making dynamic web pages.

Perl This language is widely used by the programmers for writing CGI scripts.

PhpMyAdmin It is a necessary component to handle the administration of MySQL.

Webalizer It is a web log file analyzer, which generates statistical reports about how many people visit a website and what do they look for in the website

Fake Sendmail For this component using testing email transfer on localhost, Fake Sendmail is used. If you are going to work on such a project which involves sending emails, then this component will come in your use.

Now We have select these above component, Apache, MySQL, PHP and phpMyAdmin since these are necessarily required for WordPress application installation.

After selecting XAMPP components, you will be getting option to specify a location where you want to install XAMPP Server. Once you specify the location, the setup will be ready to install. (Default Location Mostly user using primary partition C: Drive)

Once the installation is complete, open XAMPP control panel. For this, find the xampp-control.exe inside XAMPP Folder(C:\XAMPP) and launch it, Default location of XAMPP folder is C:\XAMPP

Now you can see XAMPP control panel, start Apache and MySQL components. As you will start these both components,

Then Select MySQL”Admin” now default browser(like Internet Explore, Google Chrome) opening with this URL http://localhost/phpmyadmin (PHPMyAdmin basically using for Database maintain etc.)

Database Creation or WordPress Installation

Step 1: Database Creation

On PHPMyAdmin interface, find the “Database” tool on the top left-side and create the database.

Then click Server 127.0.0.1 for creating a MySql User Name.

Then again click on Database

Now you can see we created database wordpress-wp. Click on check privilege as per figure

Fill the User information below like figure

Example

User Name : wordpress-sql

Host Name: localhost

Password:  Type your password

Re-type: Verify your password

After that you can scroll the screen to bottom

Now we can see Global Privileges Check all privileges.  Then Select Go Option.

Now we can create successfully Database or username with privilege.

Step 2 WordPress Installation Procedure

Now go to www.wordpress.org

After Creating Database, we are set to start the installation WordPress. We are going to download WordPress Application through this link.

Once the download is complete, extract the WordPress application zip files to this directory C:\XAMPP\htdocs\.If you’ve extracted the package correctly, you will see the “WordPress” folder inside htdocs.

Next step is to browse this URL- http://localhost/wordpress in your browser for initializing the actual installation of WordPress.

Fill the database information

Database Name : wordpress-wp

User Name: wordpress-sql

Database Name: localhost (also called HOST Name)

Password:  Type your password

Table Prefix: wp_

Fill the name of database, localhost, username which you have created in the above step.

In the last field, you may define a prefix to all the database tables, and submit.

Then we can see next step

Now you are prompted to set the title of your site and fill up user information, like site title, username, password and Email.

Fill up the required fields, and press “Install WordPress”.

Now, you have installed WordPress Successfully in your local computer. You can move on to the dashboard by clicking on the Log in button.
